{"id":2895,"date":"2010-06-13T12:00:33","date_gmt":"2010-06-13T16:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.2beerguys.com\/blog\/?p=2895"},"modified":"2010-06-08T23:23:34","modified_gmt":"2010-06-09T03:23:34","slug":"karl-strauss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/2beerguys.com\/blog\/2010\/06\/13\/karl-strauss\/","title":{"rendered":"It\u2019s Award Season and Karl Strauss Is Thirsty For More"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.2beerguys.com\/images\/forblog\/san_diego_ibf.jpg\" alt=\"San Diego International Beer Fest\" align=\"right\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s Award Season and Karl Strauss Is Thirsty For More<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">San Diego, CA \u2013 June 8<\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, 2010 <\/span>\u2013 <\/em><\/strong>It starts in Spring, with breweries across the country competing in a  number of local, regional, and national beer competitions, all leading up to the Great  American Beer Festival in September.\u00a0 Building off the momentum of winning Gold  at the recent World Beer Cup, Karl Strauss Brewing Company added a few more  awards to the trophy case this past week.\u00a0 The company took home gold and  bronze at the San Diego International Beer Festival.\u00a0 It was a notable week  since Karl Strauss was also named \u201cBest Brewery\u201d at the Annual San Diego California Restaurant Association Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Karl Strauss was one of  nine San Diego breweries to win Gold at the San Diego International Beer Festival. \u00a0According to the official event website, 350 beers were entered by more than 150 breweries from 15  states and 22 countries.\u00a0 \u201cWe knew when we entered, we\u2019d be up against some stiff competition,\u201d says Paul Segura, Karl Strauss Brewmaster.\u00a0 The company took a Gold Medal for its Minden Maibock\u2014a smooth, toasty German lager\u2014edging out Samuel Adam\u2019s Double Bock.\u00a0 Red Trolley Ale took a Bronze in the Irish Red Ale category, medaling in the competition for the second year in a row.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the San  Diego International Beer Festival, the company was voted San Diego\u2019s \u201cBest Brewery\u201d by the San Diego Chapter of the California Restaurant Association (SDCRA) at the Annual Gold Medallion Banquet.  1,100 members of the restaurant industry cast their votes with Karl Strauss  taking the honor over the other two finalists, Ballast Point Brewing Company  and Stone Brewing Company.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s always nice to be recognized by your peers and this award shows that we\u2019ve really become an integral part of the community over the last 21 years.\u00a0 We\u2019re honored to have been in the running with two great breweries like Ballast and Stone,\u201d says  Paul.<\/p>\n<p>Karl Strauss is currently  gearing up for the Los Angeles County Fair and Great American Beer Festival competitions. \u201cThe reason we\u2019re still around after 21 years is that our passion comes through in every beer we make.\u00a0 Winning awards is just an added bonus,\u201d says Paul.\u00a0 For more information on the award winning beers visit <a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/outgoing\/www.karlstrauss.com\/');\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.karlstrauss.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.karlstrauss.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;
