Old Crafty Hen will make its United States debut with brewer John Bexon by its side. Old Crafty Hen is a superior Fine Ale, critically acclaimed in the UK, and a Grande Gold Monde Selection award winner in 2010. Ale aficionados shall rejoice! Old Crafty Hen consists of a blend of Old Speckled Hen and Old 5X, a Strong Ale that’s aged in barrels stored in ancient tunnels that once linked the local monastery with the bishop’s house that stood on the site of the brewery. The tradition of brewing a Strong Ale and maturing it in oak vats is one that unlike other UK brewers Greene King has continued – the practice is mentioned as far back as 1810.

As a result, Old Crafty Hen “has spicy and peppery notes with raisin, fruit, vanilla and a hint of oak. There are strong hop resin notes in the mouth, balancing malt and fruit, while the finish is rich, smooth, fruity, malty but finally dry with a lingering spicy hop note.” – Roger Protz

John Bexon will be on hand between 7-9pm to raise a glass in celebration of his fine Ale making its way to our shores. There will be some free glassware and other giveaways and the British Beer Company will be offering some complimentary appetizers. Come say hi to the brewer and enjoy the oaky complexity of this very British Blended Ale.

British Beer Company
120 Worcester Rd.
