Wildeman has arrived.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And so begins the twisted tale that is Flying Dog Brewery\u2019s latest release, Wildeman Farmhouse IPA.<\/p>\n<p>A concept originally brewed for the 25th anniversary of Amsterdam\u2019s In de Wildeman, Flying Dog is now unleashing the beer on the U.S. as simply Wildeman.<\/p>\n<p>A teaser for Wildeman was launched January 13 (on Friday the 13th, no less) with a one-minute video on Flying Dog\u2019s YouTube channel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere, courtesy of Flying Dog Brewery, is the most inexplicable commercial for a new-beer release that you may ever see,\u201d Rebecca Cullers wrote in AdWeek\u2019s \u201cAdFreak\u201d blog. \u201cIf it captures the essence of the brew, called Wildeman, then this is a concoction Made from wolf blood and steampunk wings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The beer \u2013 which Cullers predicts, \u201ctastes like insanity\u201d \u2013 is unfiltered and hazy gold in color. Wildeman begins with notes of citrus and spice on the nose, followed by potent citrus hop flavor. The bitterness is balanced by light malt highlights and finishes dry, crisp, and with a slight hint of acidity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re building out our portfolio, established by Raging Bitch Belgian-Style IPA, of hop-forward IPAs fermented with unique yeast strains,\u201d Brewmaster Matt Brophy said. \u201cWith Wildeman, we used a Saison yeast and were incredibly pleased with the hoppy and funky balance it produced.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Raging Bitch, Wildeman is the first new year-round release from Flying Dog since the Belgian-Style IPA took the U.S. by storm.<\/p>\n<p>The world premiere of Wildeman Farmhouse IPA was at Victoria Gastro Pub in Columbia, Maryland on Wednesday, January 18.
