{"id":638,"date":"2008-08-11T16:23:32","date_gmt":"2008-08-11T20:23:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.2beerguys.com\/blog\/?p=638"},"modified":"2008-08-11T16:23:32","modified_gmt":"2008-08-11T20:23:32","slug":"rock-the-mike-the-freeman-brainefit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/2beerguys.com\/blog\/2008\/08\/11\/rock-the-mike-the-freeman-brainefit\/","title":{"rendered":"Rock the Mike: The Freeman Brainefit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/p>\n<p>DENVER\u00e2\u20ac\u2122S BEER AND MUSIC COMMUNITIES JOIN FORCES TO<br \/>\nHELP FRIEND AND CANCER PATIENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Denver, CO (August 13, 2008) \u00e2\u20ac\u201c \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Rock the Mike: The Freeman Brainefit,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d a<br \/>\nfundraiser for Mike Freeman, the frontman for some of Denver\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s favorite Punk<br \/>\nbands will be held on Saturday, August 23 at the Flying Dog Brewery<br \/>\nWarehouse.<\/p>\n<p>Mike was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM),<br \/>\nwhich is an extremely serious brain tumor and the most aggressive of its kind.<br \/>\nMike is currently undergoing radiation and three types of chemotherapy,<br \/>\nincluding some experimental treatments. All proceeds from the event will go to<br \/>\nMike and his fianc\u00c3\u00a9e, Jennifer to help offset medical expenses.<\/p>\n<p>Rock the Mike: The Freeman Brainefit starts at 7pm and will feature six bands,<br \/>\nbelly dancing, DJs and complimentary beer samples from Flying Dog, Great<br \/>\nDivide and Breckenridge Breweries. A $20 donation is requested at the door.<br \/>\nThe tumor, therapy and medications can be very taxing on the body and mind,<br \/>\nbut Mike has stayed positive and strong throughout. Fellow band member and<br \/>\nbest friend, Joel Abell, says, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Mike\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s great attitude has been prevalent throughout<br \/>\nthis whole process. Mike\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s fight is not an easy one to take on, but because he<br \/>\nbelieves in himself, so does everyone around him.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Mike is a long-time member of the Denver Punk scene and is a member of Gina<br \/>\nGo Faster and Start Tomorrow.
