St Patrick&#8217;s Day beer &#038; food pairing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, break out your shillelagh\u00a0and four leaf clover &#8212; You&#8217;re Irish this weekend!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">As St Patrick&#8217;s day approaches (4 days away, but who&#8217;s counting?), thoughts of Leprechauns with pots of gold run through our minds. \u00a0 Typically only seen at the end of the rainbow, the mythical dwarf will be bringing good luck to everyone on Monday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">Besides Leprechauns and pots of gold, we of course think of traditional Irish food and good beer! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">Here are a few beer pairing tips for surviving St. Patrick&#8217;s Day:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\"><strong>Irish Soda Bread:<\/strong> \u00a0A nice, hearty bread, with basic ingredients. \u00a0Toast it up or cut a slice and slather with some butter. \u00a0We recommend pairing the Irish Soda bread with a lightly hopped Pale Ale &#8212; such as Notch Session Ale. \u00a0Locally brewed and designed to please every beer drinker, the Notch Session Ale will pair nicely with the hearty bread.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Irish Potato &amp; Leek Soup:<\/strong>\u00a0 Historically, this traditional meal used ingredients available at the time. \u00a0This soup is often know for being somewhat bland, flavored with spices. \u00a0We recommend pairing the soup with an American Pilsner; \u00a0such at Scrimshaw from North Coast Brewing. The light spiced flavor of Scrimshaw will enhance the flavors of the soup, without overpowering it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mushy Peas:<\/strong> \u00a0Yes, mushy peas, for the committed Irishmen\/Irishwoman. \u00a0Cooked to perfection, mushy peas leave behind a unique flavor and mouth-feel. \u00a0 \u00a0To properly wash down the peas, we recommend an unfiltered beer Hefeweizen. \u00a0The fruity flavors of the Hefeweizen will satisfy the yin &amp; yang of this pairing.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\"><strong>Corned beef and cabbage<\/strong> &#8211; On to the real deal. \u00a0Stewed in a pot for hours, this tender beef, vegetable and potato combination makes my mouth water just thinking of it. \u00a0This somewhat salty and tender beef is typically cooked with carrots and potatoes. \u00a0The meat is so tender, that it can be cut with a butter knife&#8212;- Yum. \u00a0 To maximize your corn beef enjoyment, I recommend pairing it with a sassy India Pale Ale, such as \u00a0Founders Centennial IPA. \u00a0With strong citrus hops, Founders Centennial IPA will balance nicely with the salty beef and vegetables.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Irish Coffee with Baileys &amp; Kahlua<\/strong> &#8211; Well, you&#8217;ve made it through the meal! \u00a0It&#8217;s time to enjoy a night cap and there&#8217;s nothing better than a traditional Irish Coffee with Bailey&#8217;s and Kahula.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully you&#8217;ve used these pairing tips to help survive St. Patrick&#8217;s Day!<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy!<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.2beerguys.com\/images\/forblog\/saint_patrick_day_green_beer.png\" width=\"217\" height=\"236\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, break out your shillelagh\u00a0and four leaf clover &#8212; You&#8217;re Irish this weekend!
