Why I selected McMenamins Breweries Kris Kringle Traditional Yuletide Ale<\/strong>
\nWhen I first moved to the Northwest many years ago, the McMenamins family of breweries and properties were one of the first that I stumbled upon in what was then Portland\u2019s growing craft beer scene. McMenamins is known for taking over historic and distressed properties and turning them into community gathering places around beer, food, and entertainment as well as cozy and quaint hotels. Their warm and welcoming establishments bring people in year round and offer a wonderful, family friendly environment that makes you want to enjoy some good beer, good food and good company. If you\u2019ve had the opportunity to visit a McMenamins property then you know exactly what I mean.<\/p>\n

There are a only a few winter seasonal beers that I look forward to this time of year, and Kris Kringle is definitely one of them. Winter is my favorite time of the year and I look forward to the dark, malty beers that comes with it. Kris Kringle never fails to disappoint with a solid body, full mouthfeel and notes of caramel, chocolate, and some light toffee. The five varieties of hops contribute notes of spice, pine, resin, and some light citrus notes. If there was ever a beer to enjoy while sitting by the fire with good company, then this is definitely one of them. And if you\u2019ve every had a chance to quaff a pint of this great example of a winter warmer by the fire with friends in The Little Red Shed at their Edgefield property, then you will know exactly where I am coming from. Few beers speak to me of the best parts of the winter season like this one does.<\/p>\n
