Slick Nick

Review - Sebago Brewing Company's Slick Nick Winter Ale

Slick Nick Winter Ale is our most popular seasonal ale. The caramel and black malts we use to brew Slick Nick gives it the deep amber color. This insidious brew is our strongest beer and is best enjoyed during New England's freezing winter months. Slick Nick himself is pictured on our label casing out the Victoria Mansion in Portland on a blustery night. Warm up with one of Maine's best winter offerings. Brewed with American 2-row, caramel 60L & Black Patent and hopped with Tettnanger & Northern Brewer. Slick Nick is a perfect match with rich sauces, BBQ, grilled meats and hearty sandwiches or simply enjoyed as a stand alone meal. -- Sebago Brewing Company

The Slick Nick pours a hazy amber color and settles into a still amber body with virtually no head. The nose detected a strong sweet malt presence that was very inviting. Candy, caramel, and fresh red licorice were also noted during the review. The moderately sweet initial taste remained the same with a moderately sweet finish for an average duration. Medium in body, the Slick Nick had a lively carbonation presence and left the palate slightly dry. It tasted like melted candy. Hints of nutmeg were also noted.

Comments during review: "Very inviting aroma." "Tastes like a rootbeer ball."
