London Porter

Review - Geary's Brewing Company's London Porter

"Faithfully recreated by Geary's, this classic English style has a deep mahogany color and a restrained roasted malt flavor. The result is rich and complex, yet smooth and refreshing." -- Geary's Brewing Company

Pours a midnight black, dark coffee color topped off by a fizzy, light-brown head with virtually no lacing from the very thin head. Thin bodied, but has a very opaque appearance. Aroma is actually reminiscent of a London Porter, reminding us of a coal filled chimney. The initial taste is no surprise, filled with a coal taste which is providing what we would expect ashes to taste like. It finishes off with a slightly bitter taste that washes away some of the coal quality. Light to medium bodied, it has a watery texture with soft carbonation.
