Archers Ale

Review - Sherwood Forest Brewers Archers Ale

"Sherwood Forest Brewers is now offering its flagship brew in 12 ounce bottles. Archer's Ale brewed as a traditional English style ale, amber in color, full bodied, a blend of precisely balanced hops with a hint of sweetness for a refreshing finish." -- Sherwood Forest Brewers

Pours a medium amber color with a fairly frothy, light tan colored head. Slightly hazy body, added to by the frosty haze the cool beer leaves on the glass. Decent retention as the head dissipates, leaving a fairly solid ring of lacing behind. Aroma is dominantly malty, with a slight hint of oak, with some butter notes mixed in. Initial taste is bitter and buttery, with a light bitter up front that kicks up to a moderate bitter finish, so there are hops in there somewhere, but they don't let themselves be known in the aroma. Light bodied, it leaves us slightly dry on the palate with a gentle carbonation, just enough to carry the flavor around.
