Review - Appalachian Brewing Company's Jolly Scot Scottish Ale

"This flavorful sweet ale has a smooth malt finish balanced against a light hop flavor. This beer is very quaffable and has become a brewpub favorite throughout the United States." -- Appalachian Brewing Company

The Jolly Scot pours a medium caramel color that settles into a dark chestnut color with an impressive two-finger foamy light brown hard with great retention. Far lacing even with a mostly lasting crown. Aroma is full of a chewy maltiness with hints of green grapes, and distant sweet bourbon link fruit cake. Initial taste is light bitter-sweet with a charcoal-tila taste, moving to a cherry-like sour finish. Similar to bing cherries with a slight bitter taste. Light to medium bodied. It has a bitter, dry finish with a watery texture.
