Review - Rock Art Brewery's Ridge Runner Ale
"Strong, Dark and Smooth, hold on to your hat cause you’ll lose your feet on this one!" Brewed with pale, dark crystal, Munich, flaked barley, black and chocolate malts. Hops include Cascade, Crystal, Challenger and Perle. " 6 malts...4 hops, no wonder you can’t tell its 7.5%" -- Rock Art Brewery
Pours a caramel color but settles out in a deep deep garnet, almost brown color with a small, fizzy off-white head that doesn't last very long. The dark color makes it nearly completely opaque, but is light bodied enough not leave a decent lacing behind. Aroma is of slightly sour milk, like just before the expiration, and a faint mineral smell like unfiltered ground water. The first taste gives a gentle bitterness, but moves to a sweet finish with burnt malt characteristics and a smoky taste. Medium bodied, it has an oily texture and a dry finish.
