Review - Brooklyn Brewery's Lager
"Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since." -- Brooklyn Brewery
This lager pours a medium amber color with an active, off-white fizzy to almost frothy head that leaves a decent ring of lacing in its wake. It has a buttery aroma with malt notes that are present at the front but fade away at the end. Initially, its moderately sweet with nice carbonation, but it moves to a slightly bitter finish thats contributed to from the dry hopping process. Light to medium bodied, it has a dry texture that leaves us smacking our lips, with very soft carbonation.
