Review - Portsmouth Brewery's Dunkelweizen
"This dark wheat ale has a touch of roastiness & a crisp refreshing character with a medium body" -- Portsmouth Brewery
The Portsmouth Dunkelweizen pours a dark, cloudy, brownish amber hue with a thin light brown fizzy head. With thin lacing and a mostly diminishing head, the body settled into a ruby red hue. The strong smokey aroma almost overwhelmed the nose as if we were smelling liquid smoke but with a banana presence. The hints of banana carried over to the moderately strong sweet initial taste which moved to a slightly bitter smoky finish. With soft carbonation, the Dunkelweizen left the mouth slightly dry.
