Review - Capitol City Brewing Company's Prohibition Porter

"An English style robust Porter with huge malt notes from Chocolate and Black malt matched with a huge use of Crystal malt to lend ruby hues to the corners of the glass. This dark brew is then highly hopped with imported Northdown and First Gold hops to lend a subtle earthiness in character." -- Capitol City Brewing Company

This porter pours a dark chocolate color with a beautiful big, chunky, light brown head with excellent retention and very clingy lacing that leaves a patchwork design on the glass as the head diminishes. The aroma is smoky and coffee-laced, providing a very pleasant, inviting scent which is very solid for the style. Initial taste is dark chocolate sweet with a sharp bite that delivers a nice dry crisp finish. Medium bodied, it has a very creamy texture that carries the taste elegantly, a dry mouthfeel and a bitter finish.
