Review - Southern Tier Brewing Company's Raspberry Porter
"Porter made with real raspberries" -- Southern Tier Brewing Company
The raspberry porter pours a dark caramel color topped by a light brown, two-finger frothy head over a slightly opaque body. Slightly sticky lacing with some fizz. The aroma gives off a dominant sour raspberry scent, so much so that it dominates and doesn't allow any of the malt character to come through. First taste is moderately acidic, in line with what we expected from the sour raspberry nose. Finish is light bitter for an average duration. Soft carbonation on the mouthfeel, it is here where the malt profile comes through, pushing through the fruit taste, surprisingly. Sour tinge remains.
