Review - Southampton Publick House's Pumpkin Ale
"Our Autumn amber brew with the unmistakable flavor of “pumpkin pie” is available now through Thanksgiving in 22 oz bottles and seasonal draft." -- Southampton
The Southampton Pumpkin Ale pours a cloudy medium yellow hue settling into an orange/amber body with moderate activity. The bubbly white head sat on top of the slightly opaque body for a while before mostly disappearing. Fair, thin lacing. Immediately the nose was overpowered with a strong cinamon, nutmeg and all spice presence. It was like getting up close and personal with a gingerbread house. The initial acidic taste moved to a moderately bitter finish with a dominant presence of spices. The taste lasts for a long duration. Light to medium bodied and watery, the Pumpkin Ale left a soft, slightly oily film on the tongue. This is a solid pumpkin beer. It's what we expected and very drinkable. It would have been good to have this in our blind pumpkin review. We can taste everything that we expected.
