Review - Wachusett Brewing Company's Winter Ale
"Ruby colored, full bodied warmer with classic Scotch Ale character." -- Wachusett Brewing Company
Pours a murky brown to dark amber color with healthy two finger frothy off-white head, held up by a good amount of carbonation in the body. Settles out to a clear amber hue and pretty decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is a bit fruity with some good malt backbone with some cookie malts, along with some apple notes. Initial taste is surprisingly sweet with some of the same fruit characteristics with good duration, that backs off eventually to a slightly bitter finish with a little bit of maltiness. Medium bodied, there's a creamy texture with a lightly dry mouthfeel and gentle carbonation.
