Brooklyn Winter

Review - Brooklyn Brewery's Winter Ale

"We brew Brooklyn Winter Ale from heirloom Maris Otter malts to create a beer with roots in blustery Scotland. Brooklyn Winter Ale is richly malty, aromatic, full-bodied and perfect with stews, roasts and holiday dishes." -- Brooklyn Brewery

Pours a medium amber color with a healthy looking off-white frothy head. Settles out to a very still, clear dark amber hue, the head has completely dissipated, and the lacing is pretty much non-existent. The aroma is of sweet malts with some brown sugar and some nice yeast notes. Initial taste is very tasty with a nice up-front sweetness with a light bitter finish that polishes off the mouthfeel very nicely. Fantastic taste. Thin bodied with some light creaminess, there's a slightly dry mouthfeel at the back of the throat and some soft carbonation.
