Review - Nashoba Winery's Heron Ale
"Malty, full bodied, copper color. Our tasty interpretation of an American Pale Ale." --Nashoba Winery
Pours a clean, crisp golden color producing a very large, white frothy head with fantastic retention. Pillowy head lasts and gives chunky lacing on the glass that slides along with the head. Slightly active body. Aroma is sweet with banana notes and fruity esters. Initial taste is a bit sweet and sour, moving to a dry bitter finish with grapefruit characteristics. Light in body, there’s strong carbonation in the finish, washing the dryness over the palate. As an American Pale Ale style, there isn’t nearly enough hop presence in either the aroma or the taste, although the resulting beer, on its on merit, is a fine brew.
