Review - Nashoba Winery's Special Reserve (Strong Scottish Ale)

No commercial description available, but Jane from Nashoba Winery provided us the style and ABV info. Thanks Jane!

Pours a light brown color out of the bottle, but settles a dark caramel color which gets even darker, more like a deep garnet, as the disruption is gone. A thin, off-white head sits spotty on top of the beer, but despite is small size, provides superb rings of lacing. The aroma is sweet, almost bourbon-like from the bottle, with strong caramel malts with candi sugar notes, as well as a soft alcohol presence. Initial taste is generously sweet, hinting at the high malt content, and the finish continues the smooth sweetness giving a very enjoyable mouthfeel. Medium bodied, it has oily and chalky texture and provides a dry finish with soft carbonation.
