Review - Hoppin Frog Brewery's Hoppin to Heaven IPA
"A classic, robust American IPA with a spicy, assertive citrusy American hop character balanced with a full-bodied, rich malt taste." -- Hoppin Frog Brewery
Pours a moderately golden color creating a cloudy stir in the glass, settling out to a dark amber color with a beautiful off-white, chunky frothy head. A lot of yeast sediment in the body suspended in an ice age-like state. Superb sticky lacing creates artwork on the glass. Aroma is potent with a huge hit of piney hops with some very strong resin notes. It smells like we're in the woods surrounded by freshly split pine logs and sap. Initial taste is slightly sweet, turning to an expected moderately bitter finish with a bit of a grapefruit tinge. Very interesting that in the two glasses we poured, we have both different aromas and tastes, and the glass with the yeast sediment has the more powerful aroma and taste. Light to medium bodied, its very creamy in consistency with a slightly dry mouthfeel and gentle carbonation.
