Review - Troegs Brewing Company's Rugged Trail Nut Brown Ale
"Tröegs Rugged Trail Ale is a unique rendition of a classic English Brown. It has a deep bronze color, rocky head, and prominent Fuggle hop aroma. Toasted amber and Chocolate malts impart a "Nutty" richness and creamy velvet texture." -- Tröegs
Pours a dark caramel color that produces an almost cola-like appearance in the glass. Light brown fizzy head builds and then dissipates and leaves some light watery lacing on the glass. Body was heavily carbonated after the pour but has settled to a still body now. Aroma is of coffee, chocolate chip cookies, roasted malts with a slightly burnt hint that softens over time. There\'s some light alcohol which is odd given the 4.4% content. Initial taste is a nutty light sweet that turns to a slightly bitter finish with average duration. Thin and watery body, it leaves the palate oily but then very dry with a bit of a chewy character with some lively carbonation.
