Review - Mercury Brewing Company's Ipswich Porter
"Named due to its popularity with London railroad porters, it is known for its dark, rich, and chocolatey notes." -- Mercury Brewing
Pours a medium caramel color billowing up into a healthy sized fizzy light-brown head with great retention, although it leaves virtually no lacing on the glass. Body is mostly opaque with a dark caramel colored hue. Head has diminished slightly but is still holding up fairly well. Aroma is earthy with some soft coffee and roasted malts, a bit nutty with a light aroma. Initial taste is moderately bitter with a slightly sweet tinge and the taste sweetens towards the finish with soft strength. Light bodied, there's a slightly chalky mouthfeel with an oily film and soft carbonation. Some burnt malts and soft coffee notes in the finish mouthfeel.
