Review - Mercury Brewing Company's Ipswich Summer Ale

"A light-bodied, unfiltered Blonde ale that retains the bold flavors typical of an Ipswich Ale, our Summer Ale is light enough for a hot summer day and can satisfy even the most scorching thirst." -- Mercury Brewing

Pours a moderate amber colored hue with a decent white fizzy head that mostly diminishes. Very little lacing on the glass, and the body has settled out a brilliantly clear amber color. Aroma is soft with some sour citrusy notes and some faint maltiness. Initial taste is watery up front but becomes bitter and a bit sour towards the finish. Medium bodied, especially for a summer beer, it has a grainy malt character with festive carbonation and a mouth puckering sourness, leaving a soft oily film.
