Review - Atwater Block Brewery's Vanilla Java Porter

"A robust Porter made with chocolate malt. This malt Beverage is brewed with coffee beans with Natural Flavor added (Vanilla Extract), and we balance it with U.S. Golding Hops. Our award winning brew is sure to please! Open it!"

Pours a dark brown chocolate color with a large fizzy light brown head with a mostly opaque body. Head has almost completely dissipated leaving just a gentle ring of lacing around the lip of the beer. Strong vanilla aroma overtakes the strong coffee malts, due to the vanilla extract that clearly jumps out of the glass. Sugary, powerful scent. Initial taste is syrupy sweet that doesn't really change towards the finish. Very little hop bitterness. Medium bodied, there are some soft sweet molasses notes with strong vanilla bean notes and an oily film, difficult to drink because of the sweetness.
