Review - Coastal Extreme Brewing Company's Newport Storm Rhode Island Blueberry
"A great ale made with real blueberries from a local Rhode Island farm." -- Newport Storm
Before the pour, a delicious sweet blueberry aroma rises from the bottle. The pour is golden in color with a decent white fizzy head that bubbles itself away, leaving a wispy layer of lacing on top of the beer. Having settled, the head and lacing have completely dissipated, leaving just the clear golden beer alone in the glass. Aroma is full of strong blueberry with a syrupy consistency, and some soapy yeast tang. Surprisingly carbonated, the first taste wants to be sweet but is mostly bitter, but as the taste matures in the mouth, the sweetness comes through a bit providing some blueberry flavor at the end, like snapping into a freshly picked blueberry that isn't quite ripe so it's still a bit tart. Light to medium bodied, there's a slightly dry finish, tart, with active carbonation. Middle of the road blueberry beer, seems slightly artificial in the taste.
