Ipswich Winter Ale

Review - Mercury Brewing Company's Ipswich Winter Ale

"A British style Old Ale perfect for easing the cold winter months, our Winter Ale offers a malt selection with hints of fig and chocolate, creating the perfect cozy balance of hops and malt." -- Mercury Brewing

Pours a dark amber to light caramel color with a large, tan colored frothy head. Excellent clarity. The head has superb retention, and leaves sticky lacing behind. Aroma has some toasted malt notes and some sweet caramel and molasses notes. Initial taste is moderately malty with some roasted malts that give off some coffee notes, and the molasses sweetness comes shining through. Light to medium bodied, it has a watery texture with some slight carbonation.
