Shipyard Brown Ale

Review - Shipyard Brewing Company's Brown Ale

"Shipyard Brown is a smooth mello ale with a sweet finish and a hint of chocolate and maple. It is made with chocolate and roasted barleymalt. 4% by alcohol volume." -- Shipyard Brewing

Pours a medium amber to light brown hue producing a decent tan colored head with a frothy consistency. Excellent clarity, settles a perfect amber color. Aroma is of chewy malts with brown bread notes and some enjoyable buttercream hints; a very malt dominated nose. Initial taste is sweet with some chewy malts up front, finish flavor has some grain bitterness coming through but nothing that overtakes the malts. Somewhere between light and medium bodied, it has a watery texture and active carbonation, leaving the mouth malty with a pleasant feeling from very soft nuttiness.

Very good example of a brown ale, malty but not too grainy or thick. High drinkability.
