Allagash Dubbel

Review - Allagash Brewing Company's Dubbel

"Allagash Dubbel Reserve boasts a dark malty taste. The finish is dry with subtle hints of chocolate and nuts. With time, Allagash Dubbel Reserve will mature in the bottle and acquire distinctive port and sherry characteristics." -- Allagash Brewing Company

Pours a light amber color with a very healthy tan colored fizzy head with excellent retention. Settled body is a medium amber hue with determined head and brilliant clarity. Aroma is distinct with Belgian yeast notes of banana and clove, coupled with some dark bread malts and some lingering dough. Initial taste is slightly sour with full notes of fruit, akin to green apple, finishing with a slight bitterness from some light spices. Lively carbonation with a moderately malty mouthfeel leaving a slightly dry finish. Spicey, well-balanced, with masked alcohol.

Very drinkable, great example of a dubbel, great taste and it leaves the mouth happy.
