Sam Adams Honey Porter

Review - Boston Beer Company's Sam Adams Honey Porter

"A full-bodied English-style Porter, this brew has a substantial roasted malt character. Brewed with traditional English Ale hops and sweetened with Scottish heather honey. The honey balances the spiciness from the hops and the roasted malt character. The beer is finished by dry hopping with English Goldings. " -- Sam Adams

Pours a dark amber to medium brown hue with a healthy tan colored fizzy head over a very active body. Very opaque. Mostly diminishing head leaving very little lacing in its wake. Aroma is of moderate strength malts with some sweet syrupy notes. Initial taste is lightly sweet, finishing with a slightly burnt aftertaste giving off some bitterness. Light to medium bodied, the texture is watery and leaves a slightly oily mouthfeel leading to a dry finish. Dark in color but light in body makes this an easy to drink porter. The roasted malts add a nice complexity to the taste.
