Review - Abita Brewing Company's Amber

"Abita Amber is a Munich style lager brewed with crystal malt and Perle hops. It has a smooth, malty, slightly caramel flavor and a rich amber color." -- Abita Beer Company

Pours a medium yellow hue producing a very healthy frothy white head with excellent retention. Very thick, rich lacing. Body has a high degree of clarity and some fair activity. Mostly retained head. Initially, the aroma is dominated by the malt presence. It reminds me of a heavy brown bread. The hop presence is not detectable. Initial taste is slightly malty up front with some notes of light bread, but the flavor fizzles off towards the end with just a very light malt character. The body is thin and slightly watery. It is very smooth to drink and it leaves the palate unharmed.

This is a very easy beer to drink. It would be a good starter beer for a newbie or someone that would like something relaxing to drink.
