Lucky U IPA

Review - Breckenridge Brewery's Lucky U IPA

"We like to think this is an ale for everyone who believes you make your own luck. We sure did. And the result is a well-balanced, soulful IPA with just the right amount of hoppiness. An even keeled ale that goes down clean and refreshing, but still lets you know it’s been doted on by the Brewmaster. It's true to it’s IPA heritage, but also highly drinkable. Lucky U. And we seriously mean that." -- Breckenridge Brewery

Pours a slightly dark orange hue with healthy two-finger foamy white head with good retention. Body clarity is a touch hazy with a dark undertone. Thin, watery lacing with weak grip. Very still carbonation. Initially a tangy citrus hop sparked our nose hairs, followed by a moderate level of perfume-like hops, which reminded us of the perfume section at Macy's. The hop strength was not overwhelming by any standards. The malt body was rather light and toasty. No diacetyl. The 6.2% alcohol is not detectable. Initial taste gives a quick hit of cereal sweetness that gives way to a subtle bitterness. Moving towards the finish, the hop bite grows in intensity with some grapefruit acidity. Light to medium body, slightly watery but creamy - go figure that one out!! The carbonation level was active by soft on our palates. Our mouths were left slightly slick and warm from the alcohol, but still in a rather pleasant state. Over a longer duration, the hops had a drying effect on our mouths. We were lucky to try the Lucky 21 - in a can :) This is definitely a beer that we recommend. Give it a try and you will be impressed by the tangy hop flavor. In addition, we had an amazing opportunity to visit the Breckenridge Brewery in Denver, Colorado. We were immediately impressed by the their establishment. Great Beer - Great Food - an overall Great Time. The brewpub is laid back and very inviting, serving BBQ style food
