Review - Pizza Port Brewing Company's Wipeout IPA
"Our version of this West Coast IPA brings a smile to the face of hopheads everywhere. BIG AND HOPPY, this beer has a huge bitter finish which is mildly tempered by the large amounts of crystal malt we use. One sip and you'll know why it's called Wipeout." -- Middle Ages Brewing Company
The Wipeout pours a cloudy light brown, settling a maroon to dark amber color, like dark peach, with a hazy body. Small, white head doesn't cling well to the glass, however it leaves a slight clear residue behind. Aroma is of harsh spruce hops, very over the top, more sharp than sweet. The spruce aroma diminished quickly, although this is by no means a balanced nose. Initial taste is light bitter, ramping up to medium bitter finish with a long duration. Medium bodied, it carries a very dry texture with active carbonation with an alcohol mouthfeel.
