Review - Smuttynose Brewing Company's Maibock
"Maibocks are a traditional Teutonic seasonal specialty. We brew ours to be hugely malty and subtly finished with a variety of continental hops, with an eye-pleasing russet brown color." -- Smuttynose Brewing Company
Pours a light amber hue with a bright white, fairly small fizzy head with a clear body, except for the last pour that is hazy with a bright orange tone. The nose detects sweet cookie malts, spicy notes of coriander, and an indistinguishable acidic scent. The first taste reveals sweet alcohol notes, with a lingering taste with spices at the way back of the throat that would probably go undetected with careful examination. Medium-bodied, it has a slightly oily texture and gentle but active fizz.
