Review - Anchor Brewing Company's Porter
"Anchor Porter is a unique dark brew, which was introduced by Anchor in the early 1970s. Anchor Porter, like all of Anchor Brewing Company's products, is brewed with only natural ingredients. Specially roasted dark malts are used, Now that's dark beer! along with a top-fermenting yeast. The brew is hopped at a very high rate, and is naturally carbonated to produce an intensely rich flavor and thick creamy head.
The rich flavor of Anchor Porter has earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality." -- Anchor Brewing Company
The Anchor Porter pours a dark brown color with a large, frothy light-brown head. Fair lacing trails a fully diminishing head. Murky body. Aroma is of heavy with toasted molasses notes and grape, as well as a red licorice scent. Initial taste is moderately sweet, turning to a light bitter at the finish with a long duration. Light to medium on the mouth, it has a watery texture with lively carbonation. Solid porter.
