Sam Adams

Review - Boston Beer Company - Samuel Adams Brewer Patriot Collection #3 - James Madison Dark Wheat Ale

No commercial description available

Sam Adams released a limited edition pack of beers intended to replicate the beer recipes of old. In our humble opinion, not only did they succeed in doing this, but they also managed to make it taste like it was brewed 300 years ago. Don't get us wrong, Sam Adams do a lot of things right. We just feel like they really missed the mark with this pack.

This was the second best in the pack. It pours a cloudy white color, then settles a light brown with an average, creamy light brown head. Good lacing behind a fully diminishing head. Murky body. Aroma is of light malts. Not much of an aroma, but doesn't smell bad. Initial taste is a light bitter, finishing a light sweet with average duration. We were expecting something pleasant from the aroma, and we didn't get it. The taste let us down too. Light to medium on the palate, it feels watery and has soft carbonation. Comments: nothing stands out in the taste or the aroma, wow! look at the head.
