Review - Casco Bay Brewing Co's Carrabassett Pale Ale
"Our flagship, this beer defines the classic, American-Style Pale Ale. We looked to the Pacific Northwest, rather than England, for our inspiration and our ingredients. Utilizing malt, hops, water, and most importantly yeast from the USA allowed us to create a balanced, highly drinkable beer. It's no accident that the Carrabassett Pale Ale is our top-selling beer, year after year." -- Casco Bay Brewing
This pale ale pours a light amber color with an average, fizzy off-white head. Good lacing, active carbonation. Aroma's are of light hops, with hints of sweet, as well as a light soapy yeast scent. Also notes of berries and apple. Initial taste is lightly acidic, quickly turning over to a bitter finish. Mellows out to a sweeter taste however. Light on the mouth, it leaves an oily mouthfeel with lively carbonation.
