Review - Cambridge Brewing Company's Blunderbuss Barleywine
"Crafted from American and Belgian malts and seven different hop varieties, then cold-aged for one full month before its annual release. This extraordinarily complex ale boasts flavors and aromas of caramel, dried fruits, vanilla, toffee, lots of spicy hops, and a very warming alcohol finish. Rich and full-bodied, yet very drinkable, it is unfiltered, and unfined. This unique beer will be available through the winter, and is served for your admiration in a 9oz. snifter." -- Cambridge Brewing Company
Dark cherry colored body with fizzy, off-white head. Fair lacing. Active body. Aroma is of sweet malts, but not enough to mask the strong scent of alcohol. Initial taste is heavily sweet, tempering to a moderately sweet finish with an average duration. Medium on the mouth, it has a creamy texture with moderate carbonation.
The alcohol jumps out of the glass and smacks you.
