Black Butte

Review - Deschutes Brewery's Black Butte Porter

"Dark and distinctive like Black Butte itself, Black Butte Porter uses chocolate and crystal malts, crafting a rich in flavor yet easy to drink "dark" beer." -- Deschutes Brewery

The porter-style offering pours black and settles dark brown that appears red in the light. A fizzy, off-white head forms above. Poor lacing and a fully diminishing head. Aroma is of strong burnt malts, with notes of dark chocolate. Initial taste is moderately sweet which carries right through to the finish. Long duration. Watery and thin on the mouth, it has a sweet, smooth finish with light carbonation.
