Review - Dogfish Head Brewery's Punkin Ale
"A full-bodied brown ale with smooth hints of pumpkin and brown sugar. Perfect to warm-up with, as the season cools." -- Dogfish Head Brewery
This is the third and last pumpkin beer we tried this evening. We saved this one for last as we expected it to be the best. While it did taste better than the Smutty, the Smutty won out in the nose with a very distinct pumpkin aroma, along with the accompanying spices. It pours a rich dark amber color, with a medium reddish-white head. Fully diminishing without any lacing. The pumpkin aroma did not stand out. It lacked in the spices department that we were expecting. The scent of malts were present, along with hints of brown sugar, molasses, and vanilla. Initially it was light sweet taste and remained light sweet on the palet with an average duration. Watery, light to medium by lively on the palete. Comments when reviewing: Tastes a little malty - Sean, I like the color - Ian, Not very spicey - Not very Pumpkiny, but very tasty.
