Review - John Harvard's Brew House's Bete Noir
No commercial description available.
Dark brown color, murky body, with a fizzy, off-white head. Fully diminishing. Aroma is citrusy, with banana and raison notes. Blind, it would come across as a light wheat beer. Initial taste is acidic, moving a sweet and sour finish with active carbonation.
Not at all what we expected from a beer this dark, it comes across much more as a hefeweizen in the aroma. The dark appearance teases of a much richer malt character, but the sour finish and thin body leave us unfulfilled. It is, however, unique.
