Review - Lagunitas Brewing Co.'s Maximus
"At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh Hops and Malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth." -- Lagunitas Brewing Co.
The Maximus is indeed a beer to be reckoned with. It pours a medium amber color, crested by an average, fizzy off-white head. A mostly diminishing head leaves fair lacing in its wake, as your eyes peer down into the sparkling body below. Aroma is of moderate flowery hops and light yeast, with a presence of alcohol. Initial taste is moderately sweet, which caught us off guard, but we were slapped back into reality with a moderately bitter finish. Medium on the mouth, it has a watery texture with soft carbonation. A moderate alcohol tinge is left behind to remind you that this is not a light beer. Dog gone good!
