Review - Long Trail Brewing Company's Hit the Trail Ale
"Our northern English style brown ale features a blend of 7 types of malted barley & wheat that yields a light brown brew with a smooth, sweet finish...SMOOTH BROWN...SMOOTH DOWN!!!" -- Long Trail Brewing Company
We were immediately surprised with the color of this ale. It pours a dark amber color with a large, frothy light brown head. Fair lacing follows a mostly diminishing head. Sparkling body. Aroma is of moderate strength malts with molasses notes, and alcohol. Initial taste is lightly acidic, with a light bitter finish. Light on the palate, it has a watery texture with soft carbonation and leaves us chalky on the mouthfeel.
Reviewer's notes: "Pungent, a lot of malts and alcohol, very dark like a brown"
