Review - Magic Hat Brewing Company's HI.P.A
"Hi.P.A. is a medium-bodied groove with a fresh and fruitful nose of tympanic temptation. It begins and ends with a big hop bite that is itself forever balanced on the brink by a steady rhythm of malt. Dry-hopped for extra quenching in the face of heat and beat, it's an ideal accompaniment to chilling out, turning inward or sailing onward through the music of the night toward the dawn of the mind. It's the liquid way to say be here now lest you never come this way again." --Magic Hat Brewing Co.
This was the first offering we've reviewed from Magic Hat. It is their "Seasonale" offering. It pours a lackluster light amber color with a hazy body with a fizzy, off-white head that disappears before long. Aroma is moderately hoppy, with light dough and soap notes. MB sniffed out peach and honey, and Ian thought of bubble gum. Initial taste is moderately bitter and lightly acidic, with a light sweet finish. Light to medium on the mouth, it is initially oily, and after a long time, becomes dry. Lively carbonation. This is a good effort at an IPA.
