Kolsch

Review - The Matt Brewing Company's Saranac Kölsch

"This golden sparkling blond ale was brewed to pay homage to a 1000-year tradition rooted in Cologne, Germany. Clear, crisp and easy to drink, the Kolsch of today is lighter than the "House" beer that was served in Cologne 200 years ago - the city that made Kolsch famous. We hope you'll enjoy it!" -- The Matt Brewing Company

The Kölsch pours a dark yellow color, crowned by an off-white fizzy head. A clear body lays below a fully diminishing head with good lacing. Aroma is of nothing more than yeast. Initial taste is sweet, kicking and screaming to a moderately bitter finish with considerable carbonation. Light on the mouth, an oily trail is left behind.
