Review - Mercury Brewing's Z Street Rollstone Red
"Named for a local landmark, this medium bodied red ale has a toasty maltiness and a pleasing hop presence. Its rich flavor goes great with a burger." -- Mercury Brewing
At first glance, the Rollstone Red looks like any other Irish-style red ale, but once the beer is actually in the glass, we saw that that wasn't quite so. It pours a medium red color with an average, frothy head, off-white in color. So far so good. However, the body takes form and we see something we weren't expecting. A cloudy haze fills the body, not to a fault, but certainly catching us off-guard. Not much here in the aroma department, we picked up light flower hops and a dusting of alcohol. Uncomplicated aroma. It smells as we expected it to smell. Initial taste is lightly sweet, followed by a blast of bitter. Light and watery on the mouth, somewhat dry, we get lively carbonation.
