Review - Nutfield Brewing's Black 47 Stout
"Our highly aclaimed innterpretation (sic) of a dry, Irish Style Stout features wonderful roasted malt flavors and a blend of four imported hops. It's a bit lighter bodied and drier than the typical beer of this kind. " --Nutfield Brewing Co.
In our opinion, the Black 47 was the best of the Mixed Nuts variety pack. It pours a dark chocolate color with a massive light-brown head. Head development was reminiscent of pouring root beer over a scoop of ice cream. Aroma was of a light alcohol presence, which is surprising given this beers low ABV, and of light toasted malts. Initial taste is lightly sweet, turning to a slight bitter finish. Strong coffee taste. This beer has what I called busy bubbles on the mouth, very active carbonation.
