Review - Redhook Brewery's India Pale Ale
"A beer that celebrates hoppiness. The distinctive India Pale Ale style was developed by British brewers in the 1700's in order to create a sturdy beer that could survive long sea journeys to far-flung colonies where troops eagerly awaited the arrival of this sublime liquid refreshment. Hops, happily, not only impart a delightful bitterness, but also inhibit the growth of bacteria. IPA was originally named Ballard Bitter in honor of the Seattle neighborhood where Redhook opened its first brewery." -- Redhook Brewery
The Redhook IPA has a very significant hop presence in the aroma. The head is very light in color, and the beer has a lasting aftertaste. As you move further down the glass, the beer seems to mellow and, by the end, your mouth is in hop heaven.

Redhook's IPA pours a medium amber color with a white, fizzy head. Aroma is of peach, dough, and flowery hops. Initial taste is lightly bitter, finishing moderately bitter. Dry and oily on the mouth. It still makes us hop happy, and this is Ian's favorite locally-brewed IPA.
