Review - Shipyard Brewing Company's Winter Ale Special Brew
"The Shipyard Ale is a non-traditional, full bodied American Red Ale. The warm coppery orange color, combined with distinctive wheat malt flavors and hoppy characteristics, are sure to please most anyone. Winter Ale is made up of 5 different malts and 5 different hops, creating a complex flavor. The Shipyard Winter Ale pours a cloudy amber color settling into a clear amber body. The active body was capped by a frothy off while head which didn't stick around for the party. The nose detected the typical buttery notes with a light malt presence, but it wasn't too strong. The light bitter tastes grows quickly into a moderately bitter taste for an average duration. Being light in body, the soft carbonated Winter Ale left the palate oily. This is a tasty session beer and is much lighter than a typical winter beer.
