Review - Clipper City Brewing Company's Small Craft Warning
"We call this beer an Uber Pils - a pilsner style bock lager. Rich, malty, and well rounded but with a firm structure of noble hops. Surprisingly pale in color for such a powerful, complex beer. Available year round beginning Feb. 05." -- Clipper City Brewing Company
Stormy seas as we make the pour, with very active carbonation spinning around in the glass. It pours a beautiful orange amber color with a decent, frothy to fizzy white head, surrounded by fair lacing on the glass. The nose is full of a wet grass hop aroma, that dulls as the beer sits in our glass. As the hop notes subside, they give way to a sweet malt presence that balances the beer out nicely. Unique taste as we take our first sip, with a slightly bitter tinge up front that gives way to a moderate chewy sweetness, much like the nose going from hoppy to malty, likened to a grapefruit with sugar sprinkled on it. Light to medium bodied, it has gentle carbonation with a dry texture.
